Hello and thanks for visiting! I wanted to introduce myself, and this blog, in order to help you understand me as a person and as a creative and (I hope) inspire some of the fellow artists reading here.
I imagined this blog as a way to combine what I believe to be the three pillars of creativity into one place: the Head, the Heart, and the Hands. In other words, the philosophy, the inspiration, and the technical skills that come into play whenever an artist is creating their best work. I've always been more of a thinker than a feeler when it comes to my art, and in many ways need to compartmentalize and categorize in this way in order for my more creative side to take over. I recognize that perhaps this is an unusual way for an artist to approach their craft, very left-brained in many ways, but it's one that I think can help many different kinds of artists. But more than that, I hope it helps those who consume my art to understand where it came from, and why I make what I do.
Head:
These are the blogs in which I will discuss the philosophies important to me as it related to photography. Whether that's concepts, ideas, or principles (such as those discussed in my upcoming book, The Tea of Photography) or some thoughts on the writings of other photographers, this is where you'll look for some of the more theoretical and ideological topics that I find interesting to discuss
